In Great Sand Dunes National Park, on the western slope of Colorado's Sangre de Christo Mountains, a massive dune field stretches for over 100 square miles. This immense expanse of sand has the marvelous quality of reflecting and enhancing the ambient light which hits it. In cloudy skies, soft, low-contrast contours dominate the view. Conversely, at sunrise the warm rays of the rising sun are offset by the cool shadows behind the mountains to the east. Here, at a location miles away from the nearest road, and near the summit of 650 foot tall Star Dune, the only access to the windswept slopes is by foot.
Adam is a self-taught photographer who started taking pictures on a winter camping trip in northern Minnesota. Now based out of Denver, with frequent travel, his photographic portfolio has been expanded beyond fine art landscapes to include a variety of other subject matter from coast to coast and beyond. His photography continues to be fueled by his love of adventure and exploration, and frequently reflects his unique view of the world around him.
