Description
At 14,265 feet, Colorado's Mount Evans is the closest Fourteener to Denver, and is visible from over 100 miles away. It is the highest peak in the Chicago Peaks Massif, towers above the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, and looms above Summit Lake Park (Which is a Denver Mountain Park, one of the highest lakes in the US, and at 12,830' is the highest city park in the world.)
Above the glacial cirque containing Mount Evans, A clear midnight sky is peppered with stars on a magically calm evening, allowing for a mirror-smooth reflection of the peaks in Summit lake. Above, the graceful arc of the milky way is clearly visible, as is a shooting star directly above the peak. Additionally, Mars and Saturn grace the sky above the ridge, and a variety of extremely thin high altitude clouds reflect hints of green and purple on the horizon.
To achieve this image, a 35mm f/1.4 lens was used at f/1.8 for 12 exposures of 13 seconds each, which were then assembled into this panoramic image, which is approximately 85 megapixels in dimension-enough for even the largest of prints. Please contact Adam Pender directly if you are interested in more detail, or to order hand-signed versions of this image on metal or other unique media.
