Description
Between Lover's Key and Barefoot Beach, on Florida's Gulf coast between Naples and Fort Myers, the north end of Bonita Beach shows why this stretch of sand is aptly named. Here, seemingly infinite mounds of shells punctuate the sandy beach near a breakwater constructed of huge chunks of ancient coral during the "blue hour" of twilight, just after sunset. For this photo, a tilt-shift lens was used to keep the entire photo in sharp focus from foreground to background and enable extreme sharpness on the shells in the foreground, and a split neutral density graduated filter was used to balance the exposure of the sky with the foreground.
